China Threatens to Shoot Down Nancy Pelosi’s flight ahead of her visit to Taiwan and announces a Military Exercise opposite Taiwan
Nancy Pelosi, US House Speaker will be on a trip to Asia the next week and her expected stops are Singapore, Japan, and South Korea.
Everyone will be looking for her latter part of the trip to see if she goes ahead with her planned trip to Taiwan.
However, there is no confirmation from the end of the US, that she will indeed land in the capital of Taiwan and meet Taiwan’s leaders but Chinese President Xi Jinping raised this issue during his virtual meeting with US president Joe Biden, earlier this week.
Xi Jinping finished the meeting warning Joe Biden by telling him ‘Not to play with Fire’.
According to Politico, a political journalism company, Nancy Pelosi’s trip is being prepared by Pentagon officials. If Pelosi decides to stop in Taiwan, she has to land in Taipei. But there are chances that her aircraft could be shot down by China’s People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) air force jets.
However, After warning Nancy Pelosi, the ruling party’s military wing started conducting Military exercises Saturday off its coast opposite Taiwan.
The Official Xinhua News Agency said that The ruling Communist Party’s military wing, the People’s Liberation Army, was conducting “live-fire exercises” near the Pingtan islands off Fujian province from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The ships are warned to avoid the sea area.
Now, Nancy Pelosi has to confirm her visit considering the warnings.
However, former US secretary of state Mike Pompeo, said if required he will accompany Nancy Pelosi on her possible trip to Taiwan. He said in a tweet, “Nancy, I’ll go with you. I’m banned in China, but not in freedom-loving Taiwan. See you there,”
