Inspired by ‘Karamchedu Massacre’
The filmmaker has used true incidents in ‘Devra’. ‘Devra’ is based on the ‘Karamchedu Massacre’ that took place in Andhra Pradesh in 1985. Those who do not know about ‘Karamchedu Massacre’, let them know that in ‘Karamchedu Massacre’, Kamma landlords had brutally killed Madiga Dalits.
Kamma landlords are said to be upper Hindu caste people. Many people lost their lives and many were seriously injured in the increasing violence against Madiga Dalits by Kamma landlords. People’s houses were burnt and along with this incidents of looting and rape also came to light. Many people were forced to leave their homes. This massacre makes people aware of the social situation. Now to see whether the news of ‘Devra’ being inspired by this incident is true or false, we will have to wait for the next update or the release of the film.
